Without further delay-I present to you Miss Lia Fagan....
When “Me” Becomes “We”
I got more than a few strange looks from people when I told them about the e-book I was writing, When “Me” Becomes “We”. It’s a manual for couples looking to discover their joint decorating style.
The strange looks mostly came from women who still assumed, in this day and age, that the lady of the house should have free rein over all of the design decisions.
I beg to differ. From my experience working with clients and having a man of my own, who isn’t afraid to speak up when it comes to decisions around our home, I thought it was time to take both partners into consideration.
Many couples struggle with how to blend their two distinct styles, especially newly engaged or newly wed couples who are living together for the first time.
The look they create can sometimes read as a disjointed mess. Sometimes the home ends up reflecting only one of the occupants, or worse yet, neither of them.
I believe that everyone’s home should Pass The Match-Up Test, meaning that when a friend walks in your home for the first time, there is no doubt in their mind about who lives there. It should be obvious that this home couldn’t possibly belong to anyone else but the two of you.
Instead of struggling through this process on your own with your fiancé or new spouse, let this book save you some time and maybe even a few arguments.
The process of creating your first home together should be FUN! Inside When “Me” Becomes “We” I outline a number of tasks that you can complete together in order to achieve a home that truly blends your two personal styles into one cohesive look.
Big thanks to Carol for having me over on her blog today!
Be sure to tell me in the comments what you and your partner struggle with on the home decorating front!

Such an important topic and so glad Lia is tackling it. I was so bummed when I realized my man had already designed a couple of houses on his own when we met, because I realized he was definitely going to have an opinion. RATS! Ha-ha. We're still figuring it out, but I love the idea that it's obvious both people live there by the design.
