While there are some fun trends that tend to fade fast, I would really like to see more of this one-The Groom Cake.
This tradition was known to come from the Southern United States, was done as a gift to the Groom from his Bride. It is a great alternative to the wedding cake, and is typically a darker type of cake (like a chocolate cake, a liqueur soaked cake or even cheesecake) and is usually smaller in contrast to the more ornate white frosted wedding or bridal cake.

In some cases, it can be given as a favor to the guests to take home, and FYI to all you single ladies out there: there is a fun legend that if a single lady takes the slice of Groom cake home with her and sleeps with it under her pillow that night, she will dream of her future husband and wake in the morning knowing who she is supposed to marry! ;)
I love that the Groom would have a piece of the wedding all to himself to show off his own personally apart from all of the other wedding "stuff" that is usually planned by the bride. A great Groom cake can be anything that the Groom likes as a hobby or favorite team, sport etc.
I still think that this is a really sweet surprise for any Bride to give her Groom on their wedding day.
What are your thoughts on Groom Cakes? I'd love to read your comments!
Have a great day!
