My brother and sisiter in law are expecting their second child, so they wanted to do a "Baby Reveal Cake".
For those who aren't sure what a "baby reveal cake" is; basically it is a cake done up like a regular baby cake on the outside (so you can't tell if it is a boy or a girl) but when you cut.....the inside cake is either pink or blue!
It is such a great idea to share the news with everyone-and a fantastic treat to celebrate! Here is a picture of the one my sister in law had made-but you will have to check back at a later date to find out what it is going to be ;)
So naturally, I was so excited to be an Aunt all over again, I had to do what I do best, and do a whole theme for the celebration!
I went with "Pink and Blue Butterflies for baby" theme, and needed to do a perfect mix of both colours! It was initially suppoed to be an outdoor barbeque, but the forcast was a little iffy, and calling for rain, so we moved the party indoors.
I set the table with beautiful pink and blue glasses, and found these adorable little cards which I used as seating cards-the best part is, some came with a blue pattern and others a pink one-which I had no idea until I opened them all up!
You might recall from my Mother's Day Table how I created the last seating cards, so I did the same for these using an exacto knife and labels.
I actually stumbled (and I do mean stumbled) upon this PERFECT material! I got 3 meters of it and made the tablecloth! I didn't even have the glasses or the cards with me-but they went together better than I even imagined!!
Gerbera Daisies are my sister in law's favourite flower, so i incorporated them in with the pink carnations (blue flowers are a little more hard to find) so I decided that a splash of blue food colouring in the water would be a perfect touch!
I made little signs that had cute little poems on them about the baby being a boy or a girl, and we put one pink and one blue butterfly in each of the milk glass vases.
All the boys had a blue setting and all the girls had pink ones-it came together perfectly!
What do you think of the "Baby Reveal Cake"? I'd love to read your comments!Have a terrific day!
